Finding My Place in My World

You know I was thinking today that I have had the good fortune to be at home taking care of my family full-time for a little over six months now.  I am having such a great time cooking, crafting, blogging, entering Pioneer woman giveaways, reading, spending time with my kids and the grandson, and of course my loving husband.

My Domestic Goddess status is truly working for me.    It is one of those life experiences that I always wished I could have, and then it just landed in my lap unexpectedly.  For over 25 years I worked full-time,  juggled and struggled  with kids in school, sports, and choir/theatre activities, etc, etc.  When I sit down occasionally to reflect on all of those busy times, because I have a lot of time to do that now,  I just shake my head and say to myself, “How did we do all of that?”.   When I was working full-time and managing the household the stress level could get pretty extreme.

And now my new life status is finding me virtually stress free.  Of course there’s still a little stress here and there, but it’s nothing compared to what used to be there.

For a long, long time I had to work just for survival’s sake.  Now that I have the opportunity to choose whether or not to work my outlook has completely changed.  It has been very eye-opening to have the freedom to just clear my head and be more relaxed about life.

As the New Year approaches I will be putting some new goals into place, and for the first time in a long, long time my goals will revolve around me.  Setting goals, meeting goals, putting a business plan in place to be my own boss,  doing a little part-time work, doing some volunteer work.  The possibilities are endless and the world is my oyster.

My support group is tremendous.  Travel man is my biggest cheerleader.  Even though he is away about 70-80% of the time he is always cheering for me from wherever he has landed at any given moment.  My parents, and especially my Mom give me tremendous guidance.  And then the rest of the family is a great source of positive reinforcement, and constant sources of never-ending love and hugs.

For me it will be an exciting New Year going forward.  I can’t wait to share my new experiences and adventures with you all.  Have you found your place in your world yet?
